White Castle Gives Back to the Community it Proudly Serves

America’s first fast-food chain served up $2 million dollars to charitable organizations in 2010

COLUMBUS, Ohio, Feb. 15, 2011 - In 2010, White Castle generously gave back to the community that has supported the company for almost 90 years. The family-owned fast-food chain has donated $2 million dollars to organizations focusing on the areas of education, health and human services and hunger groups.

The contributions are in line with the values of White Castle’s charitable foundation, the Ingram- White Castle Foundation, which focuses on providing physical, educational, emotional and spiritual improvement, helping those who cannot help themselves and providing today’s youth with opportunities for a brighter future.

“The mission of White Castle is to provide mental and bodily nourishment for those throughout central Ohio who hunger for knowledge, independence and self-sufficiency,” said Jamie Richardson, White Castle vice president of corporate and government relations. “The Ingram-White Castle Foundation believes that knowledge can transform lives and enables young people the opportunity to realize their full potential.”

The mission of the Ingram-White Castle Foundation is fulfilled by supporting projects that serve disadvantaged students helping them achieve academic success, helping prepare students for the world of work, strengthening educational institutions and addressing critical human service needs.

Since our inception in 1921, White Castle has always cared about its customers and the communities in which they live, Richardson added.

One of White Castle most recognizable fundraising efforts in 2010 was the launch of its Original SliderĀ®-scented candle benefiting Autism Speaks. The candle was an instant hit among media and Cravers alike. The candle’s sales have raised $500,000 for Autism Speaks.
