The Westin KL Appoints Vijayaanathan Ulaganathan as the New Director-Sales (Catering & Convention)

The Westin Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia has recently appointed Vijaayanathan Ulaganathan as the new Director-Sales (Catering & Convention) who spearheads overall strategies that drive business and sales of meetings, incentives, conventions and exhibitions (MICE)

Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia – Vijaayanathan Ulaganathan has joined The Westin Kuala Lumpur as Director–Sales (Catering & Convention). Vijaay, as he is known as, brings with him more than 12 years of industry experience, having worked in various hotels around Malaysia. In this new role, he develops business and sales strategies to deliver key business results through planning and spearheading innovative and memorable events and social functions for corporate clients and individuals. In addition, he assists clients in the planning & execution of the meetings, incentives, conventions and exhibition (MICE) activities at the hotel and increases the awareness of the hotel’s unique banquet options. He reports to Janine Watton – Director of Sales & Marketing.

His past experience includes the appointment of Assistant Director of Sales (MICE) of the Sunway Resort Hotel & Spa. During his tenure there, he was placed in charge of the India, Europe and Australia market for the MICE division. One of the high profile events he secured whilst at Sunway was the World Peace Congress event in October 2008. His skills and dedication earned him the achievement of ‘Best & Overall Top Sales Achiever for Catering Year 2008’. Prior to joining The Westin Kuala Lumpur, he was the Director of Sales for Empire Hotel, Subang.

Vijaay holds a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from the Irish International University majoring in Marketing Management.

The Westin Kuala Lumpur was the proud recipient of ‘Hotel of the Year’ awarded by Hospitality Asia Platinum Awards 2007-2008, ‘Best New Hotel’ awarded by Hospitality Asia Platinum Awards 2005/2006, the ‘Excellence in Hotel Services in the 5 star (city)’ category in the 15th Annual Malaysia Tourism Awards, FIABCI Malaysia Property Awards 2005 for its Best Design Concept in Hotel Development category and FIABCI Prix d’ Excellence Award 2006 in the Hotel and Resort Development Category. The Westin Kuala Lumpur was also voted as one of the winners for ‘Best Business Hotel in Kuala Lumpur’ by readers of ‘Business Traveller’ magazine in its Reader’s Poll 2009 Awards.
