Taste like a champion: Destin charity wine auction foundation to hold tasting of champions event this January 21
DESTIN, FL, Jan. 14 Destin Charity Wine Auction Foundation
(DCWAF) will host the 2011 Tasting of Champions on Friday, January 21st
from 5:30-7:30 p.m. in the Royal Ballroom at The Palms of Destin Resort
& Conference Center.
This wine walkabout and tasting event previews the 600 entries in the
popular Sandestin Wine Festival this April, including medal winners in
over 60 categories, and hors d’ oeuvres prepared to enhance these
exquisite wines.
“This event is perfect for those wanting to learn more about wine,” said
event coordinator, Lauren Magli. “The wines are organized by varietals,
making comparing and contrasting fun and simple”
The evening of great wine and food features live jazz music by the Sean Dietrich Trio. Guests will get a preview of the Foundation’s largest event, Wine
and Dine in Paradise, which takes place April 29-30.
New to the Tasting of Champions event, there will be a special auction
of Domaine Serene large format wines. Wine and Dine in Paradise’s 2011 honorary
chairpersons, Ken and Grace Evenstad of Domaine Serene, have donated
three 3 liter bottles of their rarest and most prestigious wine, the
2005 Monogram Pinot Noir.
“Only 17 three liter bottles of this extraordinary wine were produced
and Tasting of Champions attendees will have the chance to bid on three
of them,” says Todd Vucovich, DCWAF Executive Director.
Winning bidders will also receive a specially etched Riedel magnum
decanter and Riedel stemware courtesy of Domaine Serene.
Tickets are $50 each, and can be purchased at http://www.dcwaf.org. Check the
