Re-Opening of Cardiff Hotel

Guests toasted the future success of a leading Cardiff hotel at its official re-opening.

11 December 09, Cardiff, Guests toasted the future success of a leading Cardiff hotel at its official re-opening.

The 95-bedroom Legacy Cardiff International Hotel in Merthyr Road near junction 32 of the M4 was taken over by UK-wide management company Legacy Hotels and Resorts last month.

Champagne and canapés were served to guests who ranged from the University of Wales to Cardiff-based Hayes Engineering Services and Penarth Management whilst a jazz band from the Fraser Lawson Group provided the entertainment.

John Robertson, group property director, said the official re-opening party had been a great opportunity to showcase the new-look Legacy Cardiff International Hotel to potential customers.

He said: “We have been working hard behind the scenes to update the look of the hotel which is situated in an excellent location for business and leisure guests visiting Cardiff.

“There has already been an extensive upgrade because we have added new furnishings and re-decorated the public areas, reception, bar, restaurant and principal meeting rooms in addition to substantial works carried out in the bedrooms.

“Any additional work will continue in 2010 as the team is committed to taking the hotel forward.

“The official re-opening was an ideal chance to invite people to have a look round the hotel and enjoy a glass of champagne and canapés.

“We received many favourable comments and we will now be aiming to turn these leads into business.

“We have been pleased with the welcome we have received from the Cardiff business community and although it has been a challenging 2009 for the industry due to the economic downturn, we are confident of establishing the hotel in the region over the next 12 months.”
