Qld hospitality worth $2.5b
Tell-a-FriendTuesday 29 April 2008 - Queensland’s hospitality industries generated nearly $2.5 billion in 2007/07, according to figures released by the Australian Bureau of Statics today.
This was a quarter of the national combined total from the catering services and restaurant and café sectors, which amounted to $13.7 billion.
Queensland was reported to house 18.4 percent of the country’s hospitality business, employing 39,903 staff.
But the State may not yet have reached the claimed cultural heights to rival southern fashionistas, with New South Wales and Victoria retaining their stronghold on the market with a combined income of nearly $7.8 billion from close to 10,000 businesses.
