WILMINGTON, N.C., Oct. 11, 2018 - Peño Mediterranean Grill, or simply Peño Grill, has been tearing through the southeast. Opening yet another location in Jacksonville, NC only days after the devastation from one of the worst hurricanes to hit the region in decades. Their next store opening is just around the corner, with plans to open Charlotte, NC in 3-4 weeks. The award winning Peño Mediterranean Grill is based out of Wilmington, NC and has been rapidly expanding across North and South Carolina.

 

It is a long tough road to get any restaurant open.  The new Peño franchisees in Jacksonville are two retired Marines, Mike and Ed and their wives, Judi and Ina. This power team was 100% ready for the task. They jumped every hurdle and had their beautiful new restaurant ready for customers the week Hurricane Florence made landfall. The team was forced to postpone their store opening, without ever serving a single gyro. All they could do was hope that the storm would spare their new restaurant. The storm hit their town with incredible force and they were scared to see what their restaurant looked like after the weather cleared. To their amazement they had some minor dry wall damage but were incredibly fortunate to see almost no major damage. They patched the store back together and had a “soft opening” party and invited first responders, linemen and anyone in need for a free meal. Co- Founder Rocco Quaranto III spoke of the soft opening, “We had linemen in the restaurant from Indiana, Michigan and even Canada. Usually our soft openings are celebrated with a few local friends and family, this was really a special time for us to give back to these guys who were helping the community get back on it’s feet.” The restaurant has been seeing a line out the door since day one with no signs of slowing.

Peño Grill is a wildly popular, fast, casual Mediterranean concept.
