LodgeNet Executive David Goldstone Receives John Whitaker Award
WASHINGTON, March 15, 2011 - The American Hotel & Lodging Association (AH&LA) has awarded David Goldstone, CMHS, Vice President of Sales & Hotel Relations, LodgeNet Interactive Corporation (Nasdaq: LNET), the prestigious John Whitaker Award for 2011. This annual honor is presented to an outstanding hotel supplier for their dedication to and innovation within the hospitality industry. Goldstone accepted the award during AH&LA’s Legislative Action Summit in Washington, D.C. on March 15th.
Goldstone’s devotion to the hospitality industry has been evident over the past 17 years. Prior to his employment at LodgeNet, he was with Panasonic Hospitality and Australian manufacturer Tango Products USA. Goldstone has not only ensured that the companies he has worked for all actively support the hotel industry by attending and participating in major industry events and trade shows, but he has personally been involved on two AH&LA committees, playing an active and meaningful role in raising funds - and more importantly, awareness - of both the AH&LA and the hospitality industry. Goldstone has played an active and meaningful role on the American Hotel and Lodging Educational Foundation (AH&LEF) Golf Classic Committee since 1998, and was named a member of the AH&LA Centennial Committee in 2009.
This award was inspired by John Whitaker, a long-time hospitality veteran who died suddenly in 2007. Whitaker was the international sales manager for SICO America Inc., and his dedication to AH&LA and the industry was demonstrated by regular participation in association events, his role as chairman of the AEC, and his ongoing support of the AH&LEF.
“I am honored and humbled to receive this award, but I truly view this as a team effort,” said Goldstone. “If my enthusiastic support for the hospitality industry were not shared by all employees of LodgeNet and our corporate management team, this award would not have been presented to me. Every person at LodgeNet approaches each day with the goal of providing outstanding and superior service to our over 9,000 hotel properties, management companies and brands.”
