Delaware Greenways Announces Website Redesign
- New Web Presence for the Brandywine Valley National Scenic Byway -
WILMINGTON, Del., March 1 - Delaware Greenways announced today the launch of its newly redesigned website, http://www.delawaregreenways.org, with multiple new pages devoted to the scenic byways it manages, including the Brandywine Valley National Scenic Byway, the first national scenic byway in the state. The dynamic new website provides online visitors with dramatic improvements in design, content, feature functionality and usability, and incorporates more than 200 never before seen photos of Delaware’s most beautiful and historically significant roads and destinations.
The home page features the three facets of the organization - Greenways in Action, Delaware’s Scenic Byways, and Healthy Lifestyles, which includes the No Child Left Inside campaign, a partnership initiated by Delaware Greenways and co-sponsored by Delaware State Parks and Nemours Health and Prevention Services.
“We hope the new website will make it easier for people to understand our mission and to help us to continue to preserve and enhance these scenic and significant corridors for the enjoyment of many generations to come,” said Mark Chura, Delaware Greenways executive director. “It took several years and many dedicated people to secure the national designation for Routes 52 and 100, and Delaware Greenways is proud now again to be leading and facilitating the same process for the Route 9 Coastal Heritage Scenic Byway.”
The U.S. government recognizes certain roads as National Scenic Byways based on their archaeological, cultural, historic, natural, recreational, and scenic qualities. There are 121 National Scenic Byways across the country. The Byways program is founded upon the strength of the leaders for individual Byways and it provides resources through Federal grants to help manage the intrinsic qualities of the corridors to be treasured and shared.
In addition to allowing online visitors to “drive” the Byways by moving their cursors along a map and viewing photos and video clips, the site also provides information on the year round programming Delaware Greenways sponsors designed to get people outdoors and using Delaware’s close-to-home recreational facilities as part of a healthy and active lifestyle.
The website developer was SightLinesMedia Incorporated.
