24 March - The Global Financial Crisis has just hit and it is not getting better anytime soon. Your new hotel is opening a few months from now and the show must go on. Huge amounts of bills need to be paid for everything from bed linens to furniture to stationery to amenities. This means that wise decisions need to be made to be able to save on costs but yet not compromising on the quality of things purchased.
As technology becomes an essential part of life, this is also the case for hotels. Hotel operations involve various departments and the presence of technology has made it easy. Hospitality technology has become indispensable.
Traditionally, hotels have to purchase different solutions for different departments. Namely, Property Management System, Accounting Software, Point of Sales Systems, PABX, Key Lock System, Venue and Catering Software, Purchasing Software, Sales & Marketing Software etc. All these systems and software will already cost a hotel millions of dollars.
E-HORS (Electronic Hotel Operations and Reservation System) have been created to close the gap of an important hospitality need for integrated hospitality systems. Current best practices in Banking, Manufacturing and Telco has proven that purchasing and implementing an integrated suite of applications is cheaper than implementing interfaced but separate systems.
Savings on initial IT investments are tremendous with E-HORS. By employing an integrated Hospitality Management System, only one server is needed compared to multiple servers for different systems and solutions. On top of that, with Linux as E-HORS platform, expensive licenses and annual fees do not need to be paid for operating systems.
Transactions done in E-HORS will be automatically posted in the correct module real time. For example, Accounts staff does not need to post transactions manually so a lot of time can be saved and human resources better utilized for other purposes. This also applies to all the other departments. This will help a new hotel save in initial staff recruitment as a lot of procedures can be automatically done by the system. In most cases, 50% of the original head count can be saved with E-HORS in accounting only.
E-HORS is the first hospitality system in the world to have a “paperless” concept. Quotations, deposit receipts, invoices, purchasing documents and approval cycles are all done electronically and there is no need to print any documents. Quotations, invoices, purchase orders and other paperwork can be sent via e-mail in PDF formats. Breakfast vouchers and package vouchers can be managed in E-HORS programs. With E-HORS, paper costs can be minimized significantly.
E-HORS has its own IP PBX which is definitely fully integrated with the system. It can create one virtual environment where all phone calls between properties (local, national or international) are free of charge. Only one infrastructure is needed for both telephone and internet within the property as well as guest rooms. The investment costs will be lowered tremendously.
“Despite the economic crisis, the company is growing at a high speed as we deliver high cost savings, increased efficiency and productivity levels. We choose to work hand in hand with all our clients as a committed partner during this uncertain period,” said Wouter Piët, CEO and founder of E-Hors.
