College Football Fans Confess: Most Willing to Skip Date Night, Work, Family Weddings to Watch the Big Game

Dave & Buster’s Game Day Parties Fuel Football Fanatics with Flat Screens, Food and Fellow Fans

DAS, Sept. 9 - With college football season in full swing, fans are already rethinking their priorities - as in, “What would I ditch to watch the game?”

The 2010 Dave & Buster’s College Football Survey revealed that nearly half of respondents would skip out on date night to watch their team play. But playing hooky didn’t stop there - nearly half would miss work and almost 17 percent would ditch a family wedding. Yikes!

As college football fans across the nation rev up for the full season and perfect their face paint for the season ahead, Dave & Buster’s asked football enthusiasts what matters - or doesn’t - when it comes to game day. The survey revealed that a watch party “touchdown” requires the following must-haves:

  1. Fellow Fanatics - To replicate the thrill of the college stadium on
game day, fans say it’s most important to be surrounded by other fans
to high-five and revel in the excitement together.
  2. Food - A football game without food is a recipe for disaster. Fun
tailgate eats are required to take fans the distance.
  3. Flat Screens - Every seat can be front row and 50-yard line with
high-def plasma flat screens. There’s not a bad seat in the house!

“Dave & Buster’s is THE place for college football,” said Sean Gleason, chief marketing officer for Dave & Buster’s.  “We have what the fans want - whether it’s the Pac-10, Big-10 or SEC, they won’t miss a play.  Lots of places have TVs, but at Dave & Buster’s we have HD plasma TVs in nearly all of our locations.  Plus, if your team isn’t winning, play games and win prizes in our Million Dollar Midway.”

The Dave & Buster’s College Football Survey also revealed that:
— In order to watch every game without hassle from friends and family,
more than half of people would sacrifice their morning joe.
— Even more surprising, nearly one out of three people would deny
    themselves beer.
— One out of four people confessed that they would ditch a friend’s
birthday party to watch the game.
— Other than watching a game at the stadium, a restaurant/bar was the
top spot to watch the game.

Fans rooting on their teams at their local Dave & Buster’s can share the fun with friends and followers online by using the #DBsports hashtag on Twitter, and by sharing videos and photos on the Dave & Buster’s Facebook page.
