Nation-wide Hangover: UK Set for Biggest-Ever Stag & Hen Weekend

LONDON, May 24, 2013 -

      - Record-breaking weekend about to hit UK
      - 44% increase in stag & hen parties
      - 1.3 million additional pints consumed over the weekend
      - Night clubs, organised activities, bars and strip clubs thrive
      - Over GBP18m spent on pre-wedding partying

Biggest weekend ever! The UK braces itself for three days of revelry as record numbers
of stags and hens get set to descend.

More than 70,000 hen and stag party goers will descend on UK towns and cities in
record-breaking numbers this bank holiday weekend.

The UKs top locations for Hen and Stag include Bristol, Birmingham, Leeds, Brighton,
Newcastle, Manchester and London.

Thousands of revellers to flood the streets of the UK on what is set to be the busiest
weekend of the year for pre-wedding parties, as celebrations shift into overdrive ahead of
the peak wedding season in June, according to figures released by events agency
Chillisauce.co.uk.

The record numbers represent a 44% per cent increase for the same period last year
meaning private and public services will still be stretched to the limit to cater for the
added demand, with restaurants, nightspots, transport services and local attractions all
preparing for a swell of numbers as large groups prepare stylish send-offs for thousands
of brides and grooms-to-be.

Chillisauce.co.uk CEO James Baddiley said: “This May Bank Holiday is the busiest
weekend of the year for stag and hen parties which means popular towns and cities will be
buzzing. Local businesses need to be prepared for the influx of people out to have a good
time, but the money they spend will surely be very welcome.”

Chillisauce.co.uk, who organised activity weekends for over 8,000 groups across UK and
Europe last year, revealed the stag and hen parties will spend an additional GBP5,331,751
on alcohol alone, providing a timely boost to local economies, with an additional 1.3
million pints to be consumed over the long weekend.

Bars and clubs are set to benefit the most, with stags and hens spending on average
two-and-a-half times as much in these venues than in restaurants and late night takeaways,
with just under GBP2,106,222 expected to be spent on food - including more than 43,500
kebabs.

Chillisauce.co.uk boss James added: “Different destinations tend to become hubs for
hen and stag parties over a period of time and then become well known for different
attractions, whether its strip clubs, numbers of bars and clubs, access to different
activities or the accommodating nature of the local area.

“While alcohol always makes up the majority of expenditure on stag and hen parties, we
would always encourage people to drink sensibly which is why Chillisauce works in
partnership with Know Before You Go and Drink Aware, which campaign for safety and
wellbeing to ensure responsible drinking and behaviour while people are out enjoying
themselves.”
