Sands Resorts Announces Grand Opening of ‘Hall of Heroes’
MYRTLE BEACH, S.C., Feb. 13 - Sands Resorts is pleased to announce the long anticipated opening of the Hall of Heroes Convention Center. Opening Ceremony will take place at 11 AM on 27 March 2009.
Located in the beautiful Sands Dunes Resort Hotel on 74th Avenue in Myrtle Beach, SC, the 22,000 sq foot convention and meeting center will provide an educational and patriotic experience for all who visit. The Hall will permanently host a replica of the “Cost of Freedom Tribute” which tours the USA with American Veterans Traveling Tribute.

The Hall of Heroes is dedicated to paying tribute to all those men and women throughout the history of America, whom have Protected and Defended our Freedoms.

The Hall of Heroes will be open to the public free of charge beginning 28 March 2009 and will provide on site assistance for those wishing to enjoy the experience.
While the Center Piece of the exhibit is a Scaled replica of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Wall complete with all 58,253 names, the other displays include:
— Founding Documents
— Information about each war/conflict
— Korean War Display
— Flag Display
— Educational information on wars and those who fought them.
The second largest part of the tribute is Gold Dog tag displays for:
— Those who died in hostile action from the end of Vietnam until 9-11.
— Those who have died in the Global War on Terror.
Each Gold dog tag is inscribed with Name, Rank, Branch of Service, Date of Casualty and Location.
— A by name and location of the 2984 Americans who perished in the
attack on 911.
— A tribute panel where individuals can have a dog tag made in memory of
their loved one.
— An onsite docent to assist in locating a loved ones name on any of the
displays and to provide additional information. Group tours can also
be arranged.
Additional exhibits are planned throughout the entire convention center and will be a work in progress for the future. Donations of items for display will be accepted.
