PORTLAND, Ore., March 24 - Travel to Portland, Ore., this spring is all about savings. The new Portland Perks program (formerly the “Big Deal”) packs a lot of added value into Portland hotel stays booked through the Travel Portland website (http://www.travelportland.com). The Perks deal includes complimentary continental breakfast for two each morning, free parking (an average savings of $25 per night at Portland’s downtown hotels), and dozens of discounts at dining, shopping, arts and entertainment establishments.

The Portland Perks coupon book, which guests receive at check-in, encompasses a wide range of discounts, including:
— two-for-one entrees at Saucebox restaurant and Thirst Wine Bar &
Bistro
— 20 percent off purchases at Columbia Sportswear
— a free chocolate-tasting kit from Cacao
— two-for-one admission at the Oregon Historical Society, Pittock

For a limited time at select Perks’ hotels, visitors who book a hotel room (minimum two-night stay required) through the Travel Portland website will receive a $75 American Express Gift Card upon check-in. The gift card can be used for dining, shopping or other purchases at any business that accepts American Express. To receive a gift card, visitors must book their stays at participating Perks’ hotels before May 28 for travel that concludes on or before May 31, 2009 (cards are valid for use after May 31).
In addition to Portland Perks, the deals section of Travel Portland’s website has been redesigned to cluster hotel packages and offers into special-interest groups. Among the types of travel featured are green/sustainable, culinary, girlfriend getaways, LGBT and many more.
