Orient-Express Hotels and DE Shaw/CR Intrinsic (SAC Capital)

HAMILTON, Bermuda, January 15-    Orient-Express Hotels Ltd. (NYSE: OEH) (http://www.orient-express.com),
confirmed that on January 12, 2009 it was served with a petition in Bermuda
by DE Shaw and CR Intrinsic (SAC Capital).

The petition alleges, among other things, that the Company’s current
ownership and voting structure is unlawful under Bermuda law, and that the
Board exercised its fiduciary powers for an improper purpose in causing or
procuring Orient-Express Holdings 1 to acquire, hold and/or vote Class B
shares of Orient-Express Hotels Ltd.

The Company believes that the petition is without merit and intends to
defend the action vigorously.
