Holiday Inn Gaithersburg Wins IHG Renovation Award
GAITHERSBURG, Md., Dec. 7 - Holiday Inn Gaithersburg has been honored by InterContinental Hotels Group with the 2009 Renovation Award for having successfully completed major modernization and renovation programs during the past year. The hotel, which exceeded the brand’s strict guidelines, showed significant year over year improvement of its “Overall Physical Condition” following a major renovation.
The B. F. Saul Company Hotel Division which owns and manages the hotel completed the multi-million dollar revitalization in March 2009. The project included a complete upgrade of the exterior and substantial improvements to the interior, all guided by the company’s “Our Big Green” mission: conserve resources; reduce waste and recycle; and continue the commitment by learning about new green-based options applicable to the hotel and acting upon them as soon as possible.
“The Holiday Inn Gaithersburg further demonstrated its commitment to enhancing the guest experience with the renovation of its property last year, even during challenging economic times,” said Jim Abrahamson, president, the Americas, IHG.
The hotel was recognized during the 2009 IHG Americas Investors & Leadership Conference in Washington, D.C., November 11-13, 2009. Melvin Nichols, General Manager of the hotel who served as acceptor of the award, said, “We are proud of this significant accomplishment and look forward to showcasing our hotel to each of our current and future guests.”
The hotel is one of 47 hotels to receive this award from a portfolio of more than 4,300 hotels. More than 2,000 franchise owners, operators and company officials attended the 2009 IHG Americas Investors & Leadership Conference.
A trophy designating the Holiday Inn Gaithersburg as a 2009 Renovation Award winner will be on permanent display at the hotel.
