Exhibitions at Expocentre (Moscow) - a Pathway to the Russian Market

MOSCOW, February 18-    A Press Conference on the results of the Expocentre activity
in 2008 took place here.

Vladislav L. Malkevich, Director General of Expocentre
Fairgrounds, presented a business report. He discussed the substantial
renovation of Expocentre Fairgrounds and all its pavilions and engineering
facilities. A new pavilion is being built at the complex and a considerable
amount of area has been repurposed for display area use. Expocentre currently
possesses 135 000 sq. m. of total display area, including 85000 sq. m. of
indoor space.

Malkevich conveyed that the construction of the new pavilions
should be completed in 2-3 years. A five-star hotel and modern congress halls
with a 1500 person capacity would also emerge.

Expocentre is leading the pack in the field of intensity of
its use. The display area turnover ratio reached the index of 18 in 2008. It
is the highest ratio in Europe and the second in the world, after the
Shanghai Exhibition Center.

In 2008 Expocentre held 36 exhibitions of its own, with a
total display area of 350000 sq. m. (net) and 72 guest exhibitions with the
area of 360000 sq. m. (net).

In the past year 36 thousand exhibitors from 105 countries
participated in the Expocentre exhibitions and a million visitors were
registered.

There was noticeable progress in many Expocentre projects. For
example, the Elektro (electric engineering) exhibition grew by 23%,
Metalloobrabotka (metalworking) by 13%, Neftegaz (oil and gas industries) and
also Lesdrevmash (woodworking) grew by almost 30%; Mir Detstva (goods for
children) grew by 20%, Mir Stekla (glass industry) by 15%, MSOO
(ophthalmologic optics, autumn edition) by 86%, Sklad. Transport. Logistika
(warehousing and logistics) by 36%, and Ladya (Russian arts and crafts) by
11%.

At the moment, 18 Expocentre exhibitions have been awarded the
logo of the Global Association of the Exhibition Industry (UFI) and 22
Expocentre exhibitions have been awarded the logo of the Russian Union of
Exhibitions and Fairs (RUEF).

Vigorous growth of the Expocentre’s congress activity became a
characteristic feature of the year 2008. This avenue of activity is becoming
a predominant one,. Malkevich stressed. More than 540 congress functions
connected with the complex’s own exhibition program and more than 70
non-exhibition activities accompanied with exhibitions, took place at
Expocentre Fairgrounds in 2008.
