Acting Agriculture Secretary to Discuss, Celebrate Industry’s Importance During Visits to Crawford, Erie Counties

Acting Agriculture Secretary Russell Redding will teach students at a Crawford County school about the importance of agriculture and help make wine at an Erie County vineyard on Thursday, Oct. 8, as part of a series of tours celebrating Pennsylvania agriculture and the PA Preferred program.

At 10 a.m., Redding will teach students at Hydetown Elementary School, 12294 Gresham Road, Titusville, about Pennsylvania agriculture and the work done by the government to help support farms, farmers and food production.

At 2:30 p.m., Redding will visit Mazza Vineyards, 11815 Lake Road, North East, to participate in the wine making process, including grape crushing, stemming and pressing, and will present a proclamation recognizing October as “Wine Month” in Pennsylvania. A PA Preferred wine sampling will follow.
