Director of Labor Relations
Job description
Client:
Dynamic, publicly-owned, entrepreneurial minded, growing North American company with established reputation as a focused leader in the facilities management industry. New England based, the company has over 130 collective bargaining agreements in the United States and Canada. Labor relations leadership is based in metro New York.
Education & Experience:
Bachelor’s Degree. An advanced degree in Industrial Relations, Economics, Business, or Law is a plus.
Candidates should have a minimum of five years’ experience in the labor relations field working for a labor union and/or a multiple location corporation. Experience in the service sector is a strong advantage.
Responsibilities:
Responsible for assisting with the planning, development, and management of the Company’s labor relations activities.
Prepare for collective bargaining negotiations and acts, in certain cases, as chief spokesperson in those negotiations.
Advise Operations and Human Resources with regard to the handling of grievances, contract interpretation, and questions concerning disciplinary actions/terminations.
Prepare and present arbitration cases.
Respond to National Labor Relations Board complaints.
Help develop and implement communications relating to labor relations. Coordinate with public relations firm as required.
Interface with union officials and representatives, knowledgeably and in a professional manner.
